Built around the realities of caring for aging parents.
Desi Daughters began as a place for South Asian families to share experiences, ask questions, and help one another navigate elder care.
Today, that community insight also shapes the resources we create, the organizations we work with, and the way we advocate for better support for South Asian families.

Why Desi Daughters exists.
Caring for South Asian aging parents in the US requires cultural, practical, and emotional support.
Families often need context, recommendations, and people who understand the decisions they are trying to make.
Desi Daughters was created to make that journey feel more supported and easier to navigate.

What guides us
Community-informed
We pay attention to the questions families are actually asking.
Culturally aware
We recognize that family, culture, and lived experience can shape care decisions.
Practical
We focus on useful next steps, not information for the sake of information.
Transparent
Partnerships and sponsored opportunities should be clear and relevant to the community.
Meet the Founder
Desi Daughters began from Salina’s belief that South Asian families needed a space where the realities of caring for aging parents could be talked about openly, practically, and without judgment.
What started as a community has grown into a broader platform connecting families with resources, recommendations, conversations, and organizations that can help make elder care easier to navigate.
Salina continues to shape Desi Daughters around one simple idea: families should be able to find support that understands both the care they need and the context they are coming from.
